The Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships 2013.
27th OCTOBER 2013 : Precinct 2, Putrajaya.
The 12th edition of Powerman in Malaysia - The Malakoff Powerman Asian Championships was a great day out for all with over 2160 participants from 33 countries coming together to rock the streets of Putrajaya. The race started in Precinct 2, in front of the Ministry of Finance buildings, bringing participants around the neighboring P18 housing area for the run course and into the highways around Putrajaya on the bike course.
The Men's Elite race saw a tough fight between PowerMAN World ranked no. 1 Rob Woestenborghs (BEL), no. 2 Andy Sutz (SUI), no.3 Andre Moser (SUI), no. 4 Soren Bystrup (DEN) and no. 6 Anthony Le Duey (FRA). In the first run, first time to Malaysia Maiyo Ismael Chelanga (KEN) led the pack with Andy, Andre and Anthony in tow. As the pack entered transition and went into the bike leg, Andy (who was champion in 2009) took the lead with Andre closely on his tail. Andy entered the final run with a lead of over a minute and later bagged top spot finishing the race in 2 hrs, 52 mins, 40 seconds. Andre came in just over 4 minutes later to take the 2nd placing while Thomas Bruins (AUS) finished a close 3rd in 2 hrs 57 mins 24 seconds.
In the Women's Elite race, Radka Vodickova (CZE) took the lead early on in the race and maintained that lead to bag her 5th title as Powerman Malaysia champion with the time of 3 hours, 17 minutes, 18 seconds. Simone Helfenscheider (AUT) came in second place at 3 hours, 20 minutes, 35 seconds with Ilse Gelhof (BEL) in third place with the time of 3 hours, 22 minutes, 14 seconds.
Congratulations to all who completed the event which is powered by Malakoff Corporation Berhad. This event is organized by Quick Release Adventures, sanctioned by International Powerman Association (IPA), Triathlon Association of Malaysia (TRIAM) and FTAAA, with venue host Perbadanan Putrajaya, official hotel The Everly Putrajaya, Official Magazine and Photographer Cycling Malaysia, Official Magazine Running Malaysia and co-sponsors Powerbar, Athlete's Circle, 2XU Compression, Perskindol, Rudy Project, Polar, Rocktape, Uvex, Elitkraf, i m cyclist and Volt.
